Would this be a complete waste of money? Seems like a reasonable price.

Never owned or used one and have no knowledge of them. Just looking for something to get a few pictures and not worry if it were to be stolen.

I have only used homebrew cams but IMO if all your wanting is to see whats on the property your hunting and picture quality doesn't matter along with theft being a concern I'd say that cam would work.

I couldn't tell you for sure, but between my friends and I, we have owned quite a few cameras. It seems to me that we have never been remotely happy with any one that was cheaper than $140. For the price, it might be worth trying. I would study their return policy before I ordered it though.

I looked into getting one of those a little while back. The reviews on basspro's website were decent for the price. I ended up figuring out what was going on with mine so I did not buy a new one.
The best luck we have ever had with a trail camera was an old cheap 35mm wildview, not too long after they came out. Picture quality was not the best, but we got a ton of pictures.

I own a cuddeback (sent back in twice for repairs) I have a multree and some wildviews. My experience is you want something with a bigger megapixel. I just got an IR for christmas but ave yet to use it. I normally buy them on clearance, then if something happens you are not out much. Be sure to check what size memorycard it takes some of them won't take anything 1G or higher and lower ones are hard to find.
Thanks for the input. Any more would still be appreciated. I haven't made any decisions yet and I too am checking for clearance cameras at Wal-mart and other places.
I started to write a crappy response due to it being a 1.3 megapixel but then started to research it. You make your own jugdement from the testing and sample photos.
1.3 megapixel sounds terrible but the sample photos were different from what I expected (actually better).

The "C" battery thing is scarry, if you have priced them. I did see a AA to C battery converter at one time or using external rechargeables might be ok.
Wally world has C Batteries for 14.98 for 8 , it uses 4.
What I like the most about home brews is you can build one for about 150 and use lithium AA's, get about 400 photos at 10 below zero. At 10 outside alkalines pretty well go dead. Lithium C's?
Thanks Debunk. That is some pretty good info. It seems like that camera might be a pretty good first camera for a guy. I would like to find out some more about the home brew cameras you mentioned. Is there a good website or are there some good websites out there concerning home brew cameras?
