So who besides me went this morning?
I had three of them tree rats i brought home. I came up to a walnut tree and I knew there was 1 in it, I shot 1 running out to another tree, 1 running down a tree and as I was attempting to pinpoint one in a tree a hawk landed in a tree next to me then swooped down and got him. Yes I did seriously think of shooting the hawk but self control got the best of me.
The other one was a fox squirrel that I shot out of a walnut tree, he was moving around in some thick vines and such and I knew where he was but couldn't see him. I picked up a walnut and threw it where he was and he came running out on a branch barking his head off, one loud boom later and he was on the ground!
It was a good morning considering I woke up 30 minutes late and didn't get to the woods till about 5:45 this morning. Last night I was contemplating which gun to take, my 391 Beretta 20 gauge that so far I have only shot cats, quail, chukars and pheasants with, or my 870 Wingmater 12 gauge, the Ruger 10/22 or my Winchester 1300 20 gauge (first shotgun). It was a quite a decision to be made, the 12 gauge shoots stuff up too much so it stayed home, my Beretta I bought as a bird gun so I'll just leave it as a bird gun for now, while I love a challenge a .22 with a scope in thick leaves and such is quite a challenge, so I took my first gun the Win. 1300. It was kinda nice to shoot that thing again. Today was the first time it has put meat in the freezer since fall/winter of 1997, I bought the 870 for my 18th birthday in 1998, both guns still look new.
