All the Japanese beetles,
where do they all belong?

JAPAN!

Iread once that our "government biologist" convinced that the beetles would be a "GREAT" thing because they would eat all the aphids (<--?) in the beans and corn, and the article also "assured that our harsh winters would keep them "at bay" LOL, if that is the case I would really hate to see what it would look like if they were out of control!
This was in an older issue of either farm journal or american farmer, i know our grape vines, between the late cold snap and theese freakin bugs are all but dead, they really seem to LOVE the Elm trees around here also, you notice that your way?

I don't know where they'd get the idea our cold winters would keep those bastids at bay. It gets as cold in Japan as it does here. Are we finally learning to not bring species from other countries (like those abdominal Chinese carp) into our country and turn them loose?

Right. They were not deliberately introduced to the environment, but they were put in the ponds which were in the flood plains of the rivers. They didn't expect kudzu to take off like it did either. Then there are the Korean lady bugs and the Japanese beetles. I'm not sure if they were deliberately introduced or brought over accidentally in plants or produce.

Great Macro!!! Insect Porn! Just a thought on controlling the (I'm an idiot for swearing)(I'm an idiot for swearing)(I'm an idiot for swearing)(I'm an idiot for swearing) things....I have a pretty big patch of passionvine running across the backside of the yard...between the fields and my garden/yard etc. The beetles really love passion vine, and it seems to attract them, and they leave the other stuff alone....just a thought.....and the passion vine is so vigorous it survives and thrives in spite of them. Soon as we get some cooler rainy days I hink I'm going to transplant some to all four corners of the property!
