I am looking for a mounting bracket to convert a transom to a bow mount, an old or junk motor that is bow mount is what I need. for a minn-kota, called the company and with shipping and all they want just shy of to much! for the part, any one runs across or has an old one (need not be working) give me a shout,

I've taken a piece of 1/4" aluminum angle and screwed it to the bow on a flat spot on the front of a jon boat, bolted a 2x4 to it and attached a transom mount trolling motor to it. As long as your motor has a mount allowing it to rotate 90 degrees to get it out of the water it will work, otherwise you'll have to raise and lower the motor on the shaft.

yea I know what you are saying, done that way before just looking for an old motor for the bracket more stability, as far as moving by hand not going to be a problem, Thanks

I know what you mean. I used to use a transom mount also but found a good deal on a bow mount. I would not want to go back.

I'll keep my eye open but I rarely see one for sale.

Talked to one of the guys yesterday. He said he had an old Minn Kota Bow mount he'd take 30 bucks for. It sounds old since he said it had a metal shaft. If you're interested I'd see if he could get a picture of it for me.
