I've got to make this short and sweet, I'm cuttin up wild turkey to fry tommorrow. Last Wed. after work I headed in to retrieve a game cam. While walking in on a atv trail through a set-a-side field I had this guy jump up out of a ditch and give me a great oppertunity. I closed the deal, BUT I couldn't find my arrow or any blood in this chest high field. I looked till dark then looked some more, I then had to give up cause we're working 12 hr shifts at work and had to be in at 3am. I was out again thur. after work to no avail. It ws hard to believe all my practice and 3D shooting let me down, I just couldn't believe I missed a easy 28 yard shot. Unfortunatly I had to work fri and sat then muzzleloaded sun morn, not seeing anything but a lot of squirrels. Sun around noon I decided to go and get my game cam I started to collect Wed. I rode the atv this time and went into the area from a different direction and hoo-rah - look what I found.
Now notice the strange first pcture, after the walking in the morning with heavy mud boots they had taken their toll. When I went to get down on one knee to take the picture I had one of those nasty leg cramps and click I was captured forever. But, you know what, I don't care cause I found my deer and it's my personal best to date. He scored 145 5/8 gross. Even though the meat was spoiled, I checked him in and proud of it.

Congrats!!! Glad you found him. Too bad about the meat. That is a shame.

Fantastic looking buck, shame you could not blood trail him in the weeds it looks like a perfect placed shot but I have been there before.

Have you thought about putting the trail cam over the remains to see how nature takes care of death?

Did you happen to find the arrow?

Had a friend tell me 3 weeks ago that he had a buck come up and he shot it. he said he seen the arrow hit and then the deer ran off. Said up the trail he found his arrow - mechanical and it didnt open up. Lost the deer and now he is going back to fixed blades.

Great deer. Can't believe no blood. Looked like a perfect shot. I switched from mechanicals to fixed blade muzzy's because of a similar experience. Now I have never had a problem since.
