Last Friday morning was the best day of my hunting career thus far and I'm not sure I will ever be able to top it. Decided to change stands to see some different scenery for a while. Ended up hunting one of our stands I have never hunted before. Got in the stand and just had the feeling like I was in the wrong spot. I decided to stick it out and I sure am glad I did. Before long this bruiser came in right on my drag rag and gave me a 5 yard shot. Luckily from the time I first seen him to the time I shot was about 30 seconds. Not sure how well I would have handled it if I had to stare at him for much longer before I shot. He dropped right there in his tracks. I couldn't believe it! I immediately got pretty emotional. Then I had to wait over 30 min to climb down because I was shaking so badly. I knew he was a good buck but did not realize how good until I put my hands on him. Most people talk of ground shrinkage but in my case there was ground growage.
