The thermacell I think they are called? Any one. Thanks,rl huntrz 07-28-2007, 05:08 I took a thermacel to Ontario last year on a BEAR HUNT, (FLATLANDER, how much longer?), anyway, the bugs up there will carry you away, I fired it up and set it on the platform of my treestand next to the tree, it was like an invisible shield, the bugs were right up to about 2-3 foot away, I could see them and hear them but they didn't come any closer. the next few nights I videotaped for another guy and we had our stands in the same tree, we both had thermacels going and it was amazing how they stayed outside the invisible ring around us. I think if it was windy conditions they might not work as well, but are definitely worth whatever they cost. I've had mine for a few years, got it as a sponsor gift at an NWTF banquet a few years back and just finally used it on that bear hunt last year and this past spring turkey hunting. I may even try it on some early season bowhunts for deer, not sure how the deer will react to the smell though. Bob 07-28-2007, 05:35 I just recently bought one... due to the fact that I've never read any bad reports on them... I have yet to try it out though. flatlander 07-28-2007, 07:35 I have one and have used it. It works just like the others have said. Although it reads to not use it in a enclosed area like a blind. I added a detach mount to mine and just screw it into the tree next to the stand I'm hunting out of. I dont have one of the pouches so using the mount into the tree I dont have to worry about bumping it or kicking it off the stand. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a231/silbowhunter/Complete_20unit_20jpg.jpg Huntrz see signature. :D :D :D 34 days BAM 07-28-2007, 09:33 So how much do they run? flatlander 07-28-2007, 12:53 Around $24 at most any WaL Mart What kind of price tag do those holsters have on them ? rlf 07-28-2007, 14:04 Well I guess that about sums it up, going to pick 2 of them up tonight on the annual voyage to wallyworld LOL Flatlander I can see how that would work just fine with that set up Thanks for the info. gonna try them tonight while cat'n!!! should be a good test on the river the other night them skeeterz were so bad I had to wrap the anchor rope around my leg to stay in the boat! and the "repellent" we had seemed to only be affective after you used it like a small flame thrower! gretchensteele 07-29-2007, 06:46 hey I had never heard of these....now I've got to add it to the wal mart list.... Bob 07-29-2007, 08:30 I used mine on on the porch last night. Was very effective.... uncle matt 07-30-2007, 01:33 I love mine! Here's a little hint. I re-soak my little repellent pads in the juice I pour into my propane backyard fogger. I soak them and set them on edge to drain excess. I actually think they work better soaked in that stuff than stock. Bowtechman 07-30-2007, 12:09 my uncle in Alaska has two. they worked great on the bear hunt this year. even with tons of blood suckers around i only had a few try to land on me. everyone swears by them up there. if we ran out of the fuel or the card went bad we knew it, we would start seeing the blood suckers coming in. they passed the Alaska test though! man i wish i was there highs in the 60's not 95!! rlf 07-30-2007, 17:00 I love mine!
