I hope I can help this guy out later today and put him out of his misery. Anyone got any thought on if he might survive??

Hope you find him, looks like someone was going for a texas t, which i would consider unsportsman like. He doesn't look to bad if he could just get rid of the rest of that arrow.

Survive what?

The arrow - it appears he has survived.:D

Or

2009 Deer season.
I would suspect he will be trying to survive it but its gonna be a tough one with the new extended season.

Hes probably having a tough time surviving crossing the highway.

My first thought as that's a real pain in the keester. I don't know what would make someone take a shot like that unless the buck bolted in that split second before they released the arrow.

very unethical looking shot. It really bugs me that people will take this type of shot. Or when you hear a guy say, "it was a big buck, I just had to take a shot" ... that is a bunch of bull$#!+

If he does make it through the year I wonder if that might cause some weird antler growth next year?

He will probably survive from the arrow wound, if a huge infection doesn't set in and cause gangrene. Not sure if he will survive hunting season.
And it is possible that his antlers may be weird next year if he makes it through this year.

Don't think I would worry about infection in that spot, probily a ince of fat back there. Mikejulie arrowed one last year that looked/acted normal and when they skined her found a slug from the year before in her front shoulder. Lost a front quarter fer the puss sack. Some of em are pretty strong.

Is that a crossbow arrow? Doesn't look like it has a nock more like a blot for a crossbow.

Those guys definitely have the will to live. A buddy of mine shot one 2 years ago during shotgun and when filed dressing found 8 inches of an arrow shaft and the broadhead right through his chest. Everything was healed and he was acting fine chasing a doe.

That is sad to see though that someone would take a shot like that. Sometimes I just dont get it.

I found a big one last spring. It was barely alive laying in a ditch, he had a broadhead just under his spine. It was infected and the deer was skin and bones. I have also killed a healthy doe that had an arrow in about the same spot, so its hard tellin.

For the life of me I under stand why someone would take a shot like that.

Infection will kill him, if not I think the arrow is aluminum, which should get into his blood and kill him.

Congrats to the hunter who shot him....idiot! There is nothing wrong with missing but, judging by the angle of the shot, there is no reason to ever take that shot. I would rather see someone take a 75 yard shot broadside than a 20 yard shot like that.

who's to say the arrow hasn't shifted since he was shot, possible if the arrow was straight out as he passed a tree it got pushed to the back.I'm not defending anything just everyone seems to always assume the worst.
