Did you all watch the special on discovery channel this morning? They had several people on there from around our area that seen a UFO! Lol....
Several police officers kept calling it all around the st clair area..like trenton, lebanon all the way over to st louis........even scott air force base and no one knew what it was........they said it was HUGE, BRIGHT AND CHANGED COLORS.....They said it was like 2 stories high and shaped V like.......they were drawing pics and all....
One officer took a pic but it came back really dark....just with two little lights showing......also other people where calling in... It was pretty interesting. All the officers swore it was a ufo....they interviewed some people from the area too.....I bet Smoke seen it.....

JDawg and I saw one over Murphysboro one night from my parents backyard well outside of town. We thought we were just seeign things but some buddies the next day at football practice were talking about it too and they and several cop cars were following it all over town. They said, and we could see this too, that it was dropping glowing green stuff out of it about football sized. Kinda wierd!

I can't remember how big they said the wahtever it was was but they did say it looked like football sized something dropping from it. Kinda freaky cause Jdawg and i thought nobody would believe us if we said anything, but then the next day there were several people talking about it.

I never saw it in a newspaper just heard others on the football team saying they saw the same thing we did, before we told them we had seen it.

well at one time a well know tabloid had a front page story about a town that was destroyed and re-built by aliens .. Guess what town that was....Chester Ill. true story.....

...We thought we were just seeign things but some buddies the next day at football practice were talking about it too...

That is ecactly what us football coaches mean when we say eat drink and sleep football.

Bam Bam, when did this saposed UFO happen? I saw something real wierd, VERY bright green hovering ball between Scott Afb and Belleville about 9 years ago on the 4th of July while watching fireworks. The next day a bunch of people were on the news talking about it.

Not sure...the special was on today but I was cleaning as I was watching it so I didn't get to watch all of it........It was on the discovery channel.....

Illinois UFO Sighting Report by NIDS: Abstract

The National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS) 24-hour hot line (702-798-1700) received a report at 3:46 am Pacific time on 1/5/2000 from a police officer at Milstadt, Illinois. The officer reported an unidentified flying object seen by a business owner and several police officers at Lebanon, Millstadt, Shiloh and Dupo, Illinois. The report to NIDS came approximately two hours after the sighting.

After multiple telephone calls to the locale, NIDS dispatched two investigators to the location to conduct face-to-face interviews with eyewitnesses. The following can be summarized from the interview transcripts:

The civilian, who had driven to his miniature golf course in Highland at 4:01 AM, reported an object like “a floating house” with very bright internal lights flying at a low altitude from northeast and moving southwest. The object was two to three stories high and was the length of a football field. The eyewitness immediately drove to the Highland PD and reported the sighting. The police dispatcher from Highland contacted The Central Communications dispatcher from St. Clair County, who in turn requested the Lebanon Police Department to look out for the object.

At approximately 4:10 am the police officer from Lebanon, responding to the dispatch from Highland, reported a low flying “massive elongated triangle” emitting intense white light. The object came to within 1000 feet of the witness and then appeared to rotate slowly and fly extremely quickly and suddenly across the sky toward Shiloh, Illinois. The maneuver was executed with no noise. The officer had turned off his vehicle engine, his light bar and his main police radio so that he could listen for noise.

A police officer from Shiloh reported a large black arrowhead shaped craft that was moving slowly. The object then gathered speed and flew about four to five miles across the sky at a very high rate of speed. According to the officer, who was watching from his vehicle with the windows rolled down and the engine shut off, this maneuver was executed silently. Since there was little, if any wind at the time, this maneuver is judged to be inconsistent with the behavior of a blimp.

A Millstadt police officer described the object flying very slowly between 500 and 1000 feet altitude. It was very large. It was shaped like a fat arrowhead. The rear of the object was concave and looked to contain dim, white, flashing strobes.

According to the testimony from the police officers, the flight path of the object was in a southwesterly direction from Highland, over Lebanon, Shiloh, Millstadt and then turning northwest to Dupo. The flight path would have taken the object almost directly over Scott Air-Force base. According to all inquiries by NIDS, including interviews with two separate AFOSI officers on the base, nothing was in the air from Scott Air Force base that night between 4:00 and 5:00 am. All individuals disavowed knowledge of any flying objects in the region around Scott AFB.

Two separate inquiries from NIDS to the Boeing St. Louis facility showed that Boeing does not conduct testing of military aircraft at their facility. According to Boeing, the facility conducts acceptance testing of newly manufactured (from the assembly line) aircraft during the day at the local commercial airport. A Boeing spokesperson confirmed that there were no Boeing St. Louis derived aircraft flying around St. Louis and surrounding areas during the early morning (midnight to sunrise) dark hours of Jan 5, 2000.

This report will contain short summaries of each eyewitness testimony followed by transcripts. The appendix will contain original drawings by three police officers as well as copies of the original reports and transcripts from the dispatch communications.
Because of the intense media publicity surrounding the case both locally and nationally, NIDS has received additional potential eyewitness leads to investigate. The investigation of the case is ongoing and will be updated on the NIDS website www.nidsci.orgin the next few days when more data is available.

I never saw it in a newspaper just heard others on the football team saying they saw the same thing we did, before we told them we had seen it.

I remember the news being flooded with reports about it for back then. I didn't realize it was that long ago though. The unusual thing about these ufo sightings was the number of police that reported seeing it.

It took them 7 years to get there, but they're in the UK now.

Yea, that is what the special kept talking about..........More and more police men kept seeing it.....whatever it was......they made them draw it out and the one took pics but it didn't turn out good it was all dark with little white specks.....Prolly needed a higher iso right? lol..

Bambam it was when we were still non-drinkers, I don't remember it in the papers but I was 14-15 and reading the newspapers then wasn't that important.

I saw that same show. Pretty freaky. Would be hard to believe it could be made up with all the different reputable people that saw it.

My cousin and I saw one years ago on Lake Barkley in the middle of the night while jug fishing for catfish. It started out as a strange looking blue haze in the sky that formed into a bright yellow spherical shape that was doing all these crazy zig-zag motions in the sky. It would move real fast, then stop...then it just shot out of there and disappeared. Scared the living hell out of us. My dad, to this day, doesn't believe me.

Interesting tidbit I saw on CNN a few weeks back: The Vatican says it is OK for Catholics to believe in UFOs as it would be naive to think that there are not other life forms in the vast universe that God created.

I'm a practicing Catholic but I got a kick out of that one:D
