Looking for a good gun repair shop in the southern illinois area. Close to Harrisburg and have used local repair but now staffed with kids who don't know the diference between a .45 and a .45-70. Have a Baretta 12 ga I use for deer and need some help.

Mann and Sons Sporting Goods in Pinkneyville, IL or Wright's guns in Pinkneyville, IL are probably two of the best gunsmiths in IL. John Mann is very good and will get your work done very quick if you bought it from him. he is the closest Remington gunsmith around but he also works on other brands. he has worked on my Beretta 391 20 gauge before (also bought it from him) but he will not work on a Marlin model 60!

I'll second Mann's. They do topnotch work very quickly and quite reasonably as well. I take any of my PD long guns there if I can't figure them out myself. I think they now have someone contracted to dip guns as well.

I am thinking there is one in Kentucky not too far from Shawneetown, Il but i can't think of the name of it. There used to be a gunshop in Mt. Vernon but I think he went out of business. If it is a Beretta they may also be able to work on it at the Rend Lake Shooting Complex.

What is your gun doing, or not doing?

Threads stripped on the forearm cap, cap and spring flew off when I fired and I could not find. Is Hicks Trading Post still open in Pinckneyville?

Hicks is still open and doing well.
FYI: if paying for a firearm in cash with no trade in the prices listed on the tags are always cheaper.
