Hello,
I have the chance to buy a Cannon S3 or a S5 whichever I chose, both are brand new in box, and come with just about the same extras(?) any way the difference on price is just a bit over $50. Is there a great deal of change from the s3 to s5, I have done side by side on paper and other than the memory card that comes with them being a bit bigger, and the S3 is 6mp and the S5 is 8MP. Not trying to sound to dumb here but do you think spending the extra $50 is worth it? I mean heck $50 is $50, 1/2 tank of gas ya know ;) .
Thank you for any advise, and for helping me to make up my mind! LOL:eek:

This is just my opinion, and that plus $2.50 will almost get you a cup of joe at Denneys, but since the difference is just $50, I'd spring for the higher megapixels. You can always reduce a picture's resolution, but you can't increase it.
What are you gonna be using it for?
I don't know much about either one of those cameras, but I'll give ya my 2cents worth on the megapixel issue...
I think it really depends on what you plan on doing with the photos you take, I have a 5 MP and I really could use more because I'm always cropping my photos, printing to 8x10, but bigger means it's going to take longer to load pics, longer to work on them, eat up more hard-drive, etc.
I think for $50 I would do it if it was $100 maybe, much more than that and no way, I think most people that buy the point and shoot digitals are overkill'n it with these 8 mp cameras for just 4x6 prints. I had a 4 mp Olympus before this 5 mp Panasonic, and I believe the quality was way better on the Olympus even though less MP, I guess different brands use different technology.
I'll have to get a DSLR someday, it would be good for taking these shots of deer from the truck, but too bulky (IMO) to take with me hunting and on some hikes I take, the one I have now fits in my front pocket, and that is worth a lot in my book.
concensus: JUST DO IT!
BUY THE BIGGEST, BADDEST CAMERA YOU CAN AFFORD!
THAT FITS YOUR NEEDS
well just a lot of out door photos and the yearly trips fishing hunting. nothing in the professional manner, just personal use, get some good shots and make wall hangers... I just thought it may be over kill, going for the S5 but then again, thanks
I think that makes sense all of ya, Must have gotten into the "thinking to hard about it" deal, I don't mind the size of it, for myself thats not a problem, but I know what you are saying on that huntrz, just by it and be done with it. thanks again, for what it's worth the opinions did help.
I would prolly buy the more expensive one as well. I have a 6.1 and ready to trade it in already......For shooting wildlife and such my pics are crappy.
You'll wanna crop 'em after you take em and that makes the pics lose quality. I think everyone should have a camera...I dont leave the house without mine!
