Hung out at Comlara Park, Lake Evergreen north of Bloomington/Normal this weekend. Saturday was a long day with National Orienteering Day and going on an unexpected training run. Several hours later, got back to the family and setting up camp. Not being in our usual spot near water, Ember found another diversion. After all, it was Talk Like a Pirate Day. She may as well climb the mast. (Spot of blue near the top)

Quick dinner and got the canoe in the water with a bit of time to play around before dark.

We found a closeby spot to land for me to get a steady shot.

 Why do we keep asking ourselves the same darn question in the middle of weekends like this - 'Why don't we do this more often?'

She is quite the tree climber, you may need to take lessons before hunting season. Love the sunset photos.

Wow she is fit to be a pirate with those climbing skills. I hear Evergreen is a pretty good crappie lake. nice sunset shots there!!

Beautiful sunset. I wish I could still climb a tree like that.

An informal poll of the anglers I ran into showed a pretty sad weekend. Just a couple walleye. However, the youngest decided she would go drown a worm while doing her homework Sunday morning.
I'm out on the trail geocaching and my phone rings. "Gary, where are you?" my wife asks.
Aspen had a fish on her line and couldn't take it off. She ran all the way back to the camp site, leaving the fish on the line in the water. She couldn't remember how to get the fish off the hook. She never expected to catch anything.
Nice little bluegill.

Nothing like catching a fish to ruin homework/nap/canoodling.
