I'm ready! I love the waterfowl hunting! I didnt get out much here in NE, almost two hoiurs away from the basins where the majority of the waterfowling in NE is at, Have a duck blind on the Platte river just outside of town, sometimes it was OK, mostly not (reminds me, I need to go get my decoys out before I leave!) So hopeing I can hook up some decent spots around Carbondale that wont be a major endeavor just to get out for a morning.

i am ready now. this hot weather makes me sick. can't take it much longer. i use an 870 black synthetic for geese and a beretta pintail for ducks till it gets cold then it wont always cycle correctly. if anyone is interested i have a bunch of decoys for sale on the buy sell trade page.

The plan is to hunt Carlyle Lake on opening day. We spanked them all day there last year! If not there I will be rifle hunting in northern Wisconsin. I am stoked either way. I still need to get out and do some scouting a few other places yet though. Around Dry Lake and Pyramid. I want to try there towards the end of the season when hopefully the public land craze has died down. I also want to check out Scott's place in Freeburg. Lots to do and little time.

Full Draw, are you talking about at the walk-ins at Carlyle? A buddy called me last year opening day from the walk-ins to brag about killing out and guns were going crazy in the background. Im excited to go out there opening day, but the guys im going with are trying to talk me into riding a mountain bike or something to get a spot. Has anyone heard of anything like that?

I hunt in the middle of the lake in the stumps most of the time. It looked like a video on the Outdoor Channel opening day last year. :D There are some guys that ride mountain bikes to the steaks at James A. Hawn (southwest side of the lake) to get a good spot. I dont care for that idea, I think whoever has the balls to get there the earliest should get first pick, but I guess that is not how is it.

That guy that you were talking about that hunts Troy, does he hunt off of highway 40 next to Silver Creek. Someone has a awsome set up there.

I am so ready for season to be here. I plan on heading down weekend after next and plant some millet as a little attractor. Trouble is those rascals will probably have it cleaned out by the time season is here.

No, I wish, but he is across the street from it, behind that swampy area. He said they drove back there and found a house and just talked to some guy and asked about hunting there and he said OK. I'm pretty sure its free, too.

I have a few connections to a few farmers in Troy that I think we're going to try to talk into letting us dig a little puddle pond in the middle of one of the fields after one of them cuts their corn. If not, maybe we can just hunt some layout blinds and see how it goes. It would be nice to find somewhere that close so I could get out there more often. These farms are back behind the new RP, back near Lebanon/Troy-Ofallon road almost.

Also, does anyone know of any waterfowl hunting up in Livingston/NewDouglas? My girlfriends parents own some land with a pond that I was thinking about trying out this season. Its basically surrounded by corn fields (and some woods) so I thought it would be worth a try.

I taught at a school up that way last year. One of my students said he nailed a bunch of snows late in the season.
