Well yesterday I tried a little fly-fishing for some snook, seatrout, reds and or whatever else i could try and catch. Them snook are tricky to catch sometimes. I could get them to chase, nibble and chase some more all the way up to about 2 feet away. But I talked with another guy fishing and he was using live bait and was having the same problem. I got a few other flies to throw today that I should have better luck with.I was going to try to fish this morning but my knee was killing so i couldn't wade the waters.

well, I fished for a few hours before a huge storm rolled through. I ended up catching 6 jacks and 1 snook, I had another a foot from land and it decided it didn't want to come in so it turned and gave one last kick and broke off.

I did not get a photo of em as I was wading around waist deep water at some points and didnt bring the phone out but they are very strange looking fish. They are part of the tarpon family if i remember right. I will try and see if i can find a pic of one, the jack is a very sweet looking fish on the other hand.
This is what a snook looks like... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/Iflytrout/FISHING/bigsnook1.jpg
A watercolor I did several yrs ago of a snook. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/Iflytrout/Paintings/sook2.jpg
Brings back good memories..wading waist deep fly fishing. I loved to tie salt water flies.. Good luck with the snook.
They were my favorite fish to catch when I lived in Fl... really a wild fish.

I want to go back to fl and do some more saltwater fishin but its a tad far of a drive for a weekend trip. They were a blast to try and catch. I will take more flys with me next time, I only had 2 of 4 different flies and I had never fished them before. Oh and throwing them with a 5 wt didnt help either..
I went to Destin a few years back and I wadded in the water. I thought it was pretty scary. I just knew a shark was going to take my leg off or something. I wish I knew where/how to catch those things. I think it would be a blast, just a little nervous not knowing what the heck I'm doing. hmm... What kind of flies did you throw? maybe a clouser or somthing? Like I said... sounds FUN but I must be a little chicken.... :D
