I was just reading the posts on the braggin' rights get togethers that you guys have here. (sounds fun, wish I could make it down on the 28th) It reminded me of a deal I used to be involved in years back in Northern Minnesota. It was a fishing league, much like a bowling or pool league. We fished once a week, a different lake/river or area each week. Two man (or woman) teams (each with a clever name) Everyone would start from the same place and take of at the horn. You had four or six hours (cant remember which) to fish and be back. each week had a different target fish, but the the big points come from catching multiple species to complement it. The bigger the fish the more points, the more species brought in the bigger the bonus points. (trying to breif as possible here) Points accumulate throught a 14 week season etc, etc

Is there anything like that around? if not, would there be intrest in putting it together for next year?

Sounds like a fun format. Makes you a better all around fisherman for sure...

It was alot of fun, each boat (team) paid like a 100.00 entry fee, then it was al split up into prizes. I think we paid out the first 5 places, plus largest fish of each species. We also made it like a club (for the lack of a better word) we exchanged tactics, and areas amoungst ourselves with the agreement that we didnt share "secret spots" out side the group. It worked out great. The first year we had ten teams, now, about 7 years into it, they have split it into two division with about 20 teams in each. With that may people the purse is getting large and its starting to get serious, I know some of the original founding members have broken away and are foruming another league.
We did promote "catch and release" by only qualifing live fish, and I would have to say that worked out better then what I would have expected.
