Ok, we just settled an offer on a house there, ends up just a couple blocks away from a Cedar Lake. Hows the fishing there?

Nice lake...nice area....youll have to visit Giant City State Park and Lodge....Try their chicken dinner....

My wife took my boys there the other day, They (the boys) loved the chicken!

I have a post on it somewhere on here with tons of pics from that area...It is a nice little place to visit........We also had a resturant post for a while on here with good rest. to try..youll have to search through that.......I don't know if I have any cedar pics....Ill look....It is a very scenic lake.....Im sure some nice pics could get taken there...

I think Cedar is a fine lake for crappie and I'm told pretty darn good striper fishing too although I haven't witnessed that. It's got a 10 hp limit.

nice lake, C'dale owns half the lake and the other half is forest service. nice beach on the lake. the bass fishing is good, slot helps that. you can catch alot of fish from 16-21 inches. crappie fishing is not bad. fun lake watch the no wake area next to the ramp, the guy watches it like a hawk!

only been on taht lake once and i fell in love with it pretty cenery and big fish lots of different structures there i think you will like it

That's why alot of people have a bass boat and a jon boat around here....There are tons of little lakes that only allow 10hp. Some of them you can get by with using the trolling motor though.....

We have a jon boat for all the little lakes with a 9.9 and it works fine.

Party, Fishing, Donuts, why these are some of my favorite things! Looks like we close on our new house August 10, i'm sure it would be an imposition on my wife, but, she loves me and fun is fun, and I'm all about the fun! Theres a pond on my soon to be property, we could all descend on that and see if there are any fish in it! I'll fire up the BBQ and will even make donuts! Thats a good idea!

No imposition at all!! This thread kinda took off in a different direction, but the more I think about it the more I like the idea! Mama-san will be fine, I told her if I'm moving, then we're going to have friend over often and I'm going to have a big BBQ grill and set a keg cooler over by the pool, so party it is!! There are a couple issues that need to be worked out on the house due to some inspection details, but for now, we are still planning on closing the 10th, so probally shoot for a couple weeks after that.

There's something about a keg and donuts that just doesn't sound right. I think I would skip the donuts.

I tell you you'll what, there aint no such thing as something not being right with donuts!!! Thats food for the soul! I never seen a person eat a donut and be in a bad mood, no way you can eat a donut and still be mad by the time your finished. Fruit and veggies are good for the body but, by god, red meat and donuts are good for the soul!!! And dave, any friend of the donuts a friend of mine! Look forward to meeting you someday soon!

I still think about the Southern Maid donuts I had in Louisiana. They put Krispy Kremes to shame. There's nothing like donuts that are still hot and a jug of milk so cold it makes your teeth hurt. YUM!

Krispy Kremes are a heck of alot better than good ol local walmarts...When we go to stl we stop in there and the kids luv to see them being made. Also they always give everyone one hot off the line.
But eatmoredonut is gonna open up a shop here so we won't have to travel anymore for good donuts! Right Eat? lol

I'll have to agree with you there. Walmart's donuts leave a lot to be desired. I like the ones from Mallo's in Belleville. They do the baking for the commissary at Scott too.

I miss dunkin donuts... Good pasteries, Great b'fasts, and the best coffee on Earth.

Looks like Bambam's and Gretchen's boats are the best ones. My neighbor had a little 10' jon boat with a trolling motor that he was going to sell me but it didn't have a title and my wife was wanting something bigger. It'd probably do real well on Cedar though.

Marion City Lake is like that too....They also had a little abandon house right in front of the lake, but just tore it down. I would love to build there!

have to make yet another trip to VAMC tomorrow..maybe I can drag the boat along and make a run past there and check it it out!

Marion City Lake is right off Rt37....We go there alot!

Hubby uses the VA for his medical care...he's had rough spring...he's had several heart attacks since the first part of May...a couple of caths...his last cardiac cath was in STL last week, and he's not doing so hot so back we go yet once again!

OMG.....yikes......my dad and several uncles use the VA....they been good to my dad.....he had a stroke at like 38 I believe....left em paralyzed..plus heart surgeries and such since.....Good thing is we live SO close....Dad could see the house when we was on the third floor....alot of people have to travel far...
P.S. they started construction there so it's kinda hectic.....

Critter has always gotten really good care there...they are great at Marion. The shipped him from ER there to Paducah in May, and then this last time we went to JC in STL for the cath...we are just about halfway between Marion and St. Louis..but Marion is way way better than John Cochoran....way better! Marion is his primary care site.

My dad and uncles swear not to go to JC> dad said he will die first....lol.

He refused and got to go to Columbus to have his heart surgery.....

no..it's not that bad...the care is truthfully pretty good..but the facility is in sad shape, and the neighborhood isn't the best. Marion is just such a great place that we are spoiled...and the people are are different...JC has city folks for staff...Marion has real people for staff LOL you know, folks like us!

My husband had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from a tick bite and we was in BJ in STL for a while and it was kinda ...ummm how to I say it.... I don;t know...
I do know that all he had was CRACKHEADS coming in for there fixes though....I was kinda nervous up there at times...And they def don't have the hospitality we have..ugh.

I think as long as you don't fire up the big motor you're all right. That's what a lot of the folks do at River King strip mine pits too. I've also seen boats with two outboards, one large and one for small lakes. Basically what they care about is that you don't use a motor that has the capability of getting your boat up to higher speeds.

I much prefer the move some lakes are making to just regulate the speed instead of the outboard size. With a 4-stroke outboard we can put around all day without fouling plugs, but because of the size restrictions there are a lot of lakes that are just off limits for us. Bummer.

yeah its all legal to take teh boat and troll around but you better have alot of batteries cause its a good sized lake

heck alot of people us the trolling motor till they are out of sight. then they drop the big motor. saw some guys runnig a 50+ HP on Little Grassy one time, i think they thought it was ok they were right next to the road. i bet most guy are breaking the law, i am, my 9.9 aint a 9.9 more like a 15 or 18!

That would be alright, all my life I have had small boats and always wished I had one "just a little bit bigger", finally got one, ended up in Nebraska where a boat is more of a garage filler then something you use on a regular basis, then I get a chance to move someplace with real fishing oppurtunities, and I start thinnking I might need a smaller one again...

You can find em everywhere though.....si trader, so il online, boat shops, locals....you can prolly get you one for around 1000 or so if your not picky about it.....

GREAT, now I have something else that I can spend money on!! LOL I'll have to see how much mad money I have left after I get back from Colorado in September. I might just have to putz around with the trolling motor for awhile....anyway it will give me an excuse to "have to" go to Rend or Kincaid, I think thats the places I'm getting excited about. Big cats!!!
