A lot of new folks around so I thought I would take it upon myself to remind everyone if you are wanting to advertise your site, business or forum here on SILO please dont forget to hit the proper button to do so.

If you are a Vendor or Site Owner

To advertise your goods or services.
ONLY $25/year for basic sponsor
or
$100/year for LUNKER ADVERTISING

Not trying to be rude or pushy but if you like it here help keep the place around.

If you have agreed to be a sponsor man up and stick to your end of the deal.
I think you would expect a member on your site to do the same.

Thanks for your support.

Your one and only friendly neighborhood mod. Flatlander :D

I guess I'll just start a list of sponsors/Lunkers that after making a verbal agreement couldn't find a way to keep their word so were removed.
After several weeks/months of free advertisement.
Thats not the type of company I like to give my business to.

Maybe I should make this a sticky so everyone can see what places to not shop, so to speak.

1. SNS Guide Service LUNKER ADVERTISER..... Congrats your at the top of the list.

If I found a thief in your garage would you want me to tell you ???

Another sad day around SILO.

Another sponsor couldn't find a way to keep there verbal agreement.

2. Red Ash Lodge

After several months of allowing Red Ash Lodge to have a sponsor link and advertise his business here on SILO the final promise has been broken.

Bob being the kind person that he is took Red at his word and left the sponsor link up for several months giving Red ampule time to do the right thing and hold up to his agreement.
After several lies and months passing by Reds chance to do right has ended.

I dont like to air dirty laundry BUT I think the members of SILO have the right to know that there pictures and info might possibly be stolen and posted or used on Red Ash Lodges site/forum.

You dont have to look long to find the theft and or plagiarism on Reds site.
On the home page in the advertisers box is the buck and fish from SILO logo among other articles from other places.

IMO
This isn't the type of person I care to see on SILO anyway.
This isn't even the type of person I like to see be considered an outdoorsman or hunter.
The kind of person that doesn't keep there agreements, steals and plagiarizes is the kind of person that gives all outdoorsman and hunters a bad name.

Maybe this sounds harsh to some but its just the way I fill about it.

Hmmm if you would bother to pay attention you would see that the add is not for REDASHLODGE but one of his sponsors. Also the fish is from silo??????? think again. And also the buck might be the same but is that property of SILO?????? I think not. As for the plagiarism.. How is it plagiarism to post information that you have gotten WRITTEN PERMISSION to post for information that others might like to know about??????

As for the sponsor link. RED was asked to take it off of his signature WICH HE DID, I don't know about a agreement and will not agree or disagree with that. But I do think that this is PRETTY LOW of you flatlander to bash someone in this nature when you obviously have no idea of what you are saying. I guess you can ban me now too for going against your PHOTO SITE!!!!

This used to be a very good site and i enjoyed the people and information shared, But as of lately it has turned into nothing to do with the outdoors in my opinion, Just a place to post any dang picture you have or can shoot real quick an throw in on the net.

QUICK GET THE CAMERA I SEE A LADYBUG!!!!!!!!!!!

B,

Good eye the fish isn't the same. But dang close...

FL has been in every PM Red and I ever exchanged... All Red ever paid me was lip service. I encourage you to spend 10 minutes in Red newsletter, and Google a few key words from each article... There is no citation as to where the articles are or who wrote them... If FL had his way Red would have been banned months ago, But I had faith... I meet people form the site, and they say well Red e-mailed me this or that... He is self promoting, w/o being able to find $25 to be able to do so. That is unfair to the friendly honest sponsors on this site who have paid to spread the word on their sites.

I type articles, and yes there are a lot of folks who share great photos here. But if I ever was cruising around and saw something I wrote, someplace w/o my name attached I'd be a bit miffed.

Look, Red runs his stuff his way, and me mine. I have no hard feelings, but it just doesn't fit what we try to maintain here....

Sorry you feel the way you do... there are a lot of folks here (even ladybug picture takers) that have a different view... and help out those in need occasionally.;) The world we choose to live in has kids, grasshoppers, fish (big and little), boats, deer, small bucks & big smiles, the outdoors is a big place... that's why it's not just hunting or fishing... but FUN here!!!

Bob

I am sorry that you feel the site has dedesintegrated into a photo site..it is but one section of the overall site.

I am guilty of posting many photos ..although, only the ones pertaining to the outdoors or specific themes here. I have large body of work that does not get posted here as it simply has no connection to the site or the topics at hand. While I no longer am able to hunt, I do spend a great deal of time in the forest and the field, and on the water. I continue to learn something every day here. I have chosen to post photos to illustrate various setting, plants, examples of wildlife etc. If indeed this is an issue and I am posting to much regarding photography I feel certain Bob or any of the other moderators will give me heads up. If the other members feel this way, again please speak up and I will curtail the postings. I feel that the outdoors provides many pleasures, and for me I hunt with a camera rather than gun. as the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words....especially when documenting the rapidly dissappearing forest and fields that we have.

definition of outdoors:

out·doors (out-dôrz, -drz) also out-of-doors (outv-dôrz, -drz)
adv.
In or into the open; outside: walking outdoors for fresh air.
n.
1. The open air.
2. An area away from human settlements.

I think several people enjoy the pics on here......Gives people a chance to see their view, their passion and their area......
Actually there are several post daily that doesn't even have a pic in them......
and the home page does say copyrighted on it........look at the bottom.
Fl just had a issue because he was promised BOB several times 25 bucks and didn't get it for advertising but yet, Red was advertising his site. Your on it now right?

I too have 1000's on pics that has nothing to do with the outdoors that doesn't make it on silo.....Bob or anyone else if you have a problem with this let us know......I wouldn't think so many people would comment on the pics if they didn't like em..

We are all about helping each other out on here, just like we did when we donated to you Booyah......but promises were made and broken, bob waited not weeks but months...... You all gotta remember Bob has to pay for the site too......He is just nice enough to let us use it for free. If it wasn't for the sponsors I doubt the site would still be here....

Booyah, I don't know about the others, but we haven't had the time to get out camping, fishing, etc. for a few weeks, but we do always have the camera with us. When we get out fishing and stuff more we'll talk more about that. Sorry it bothered you. Yeah, photography has kinda taken a major place on this board, but that's because some of us do get the camera out whenever we see something we like.

Guess I posted my feelings in the wrong post so i moved it here.

everyone should lighten up! this site has forums for everything from hunting every animal imaginable to boating, camping, and photography, etc, seems the people into the outdoor photography also are more active posters, I think it's all relevant. I enjoy hunting, shooting bows and guns, mushrooming, fishing and OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY, I like the way this site has evolved, it might be a little heavy on the outdoor photography, but i like it! if you want to see more posts about hunting or whatever you're into, then be an active member and get busy posting to open up the discussion.
I'm not into duck & goose hunting, but I don't slam the ones that post on this subject, I may read their posts just to learn more about waterfowl hunting, but wouldn't dare criticize someone for being interested in something that has to do with the outdoors, fits on this site that I don't have any interest in.
once you agree to sponsor and your ad goes up, you owe the money, if you don't pay it's no different than eatin' at a restaurant everyday with the understanding your still going to pay later and then don't, you've already received the goods, you owe the money!
if red said he wanted to be a sponsor with the understanding and agreement that it cost so much for so long and he received the ad,
then he owes the money.
I'm assuming he agreed to this, but you know what they say about "assume"?

If you say you're going to be a sponsor and get the advertisement, then pay the bill! if you have no intention of paying, then just don't say you want to be a sponsor. the site is free to look, learn and comment on whats going on, or what you are interested in.
but DOES Need sponsors to survive, so if you have a business that can benefit from advertising on this site, git-r-dun!

i'm sorry to see these guys go, I enjoyed their posts, hope we don't lose anymore members because of this.

I'm sorry to hear this. I really enjoy this site and the great folks that share it.

For my part you guys post all the pics you want. I enjoy them and even though I will never be a good foo-toe-graffer, I enjoy learning by watching what you guys are posting. Thanks.

Bob, you and Flat are doinga great job. Keep it up. My hope is that these folks will either get straight and come back better than ever or just acknowledge that Silo isn't for them and go on about their business.

Soap box ended. Carry on.

As a sponsor of this site I think BOB & FL do a wonderful job running this site and making it enjoyable for all ages to enjoy. This site allows my 13 & 9 yr old to look at this site for outdoor learning, which all the great photos posted can be used as a wonderful learning tool for kid and adults both.So definitely keep the great pictures coming, and I do agree with others on this posting that there is plenty other things to read if pictures isn't what your here for.
I hate to see people or sponsors for that matter leave this wonderful site, but if what is said is true that sponsors were asked to buck up time & time again and never did than that is not fair to me or anyone else advertising on here.I work very hard to make my businesses work to provide for my family and that is why I advertise on this site www.downrivergamecalls.com and www.silvercreekkhc.com to maybe sell some of my products, but if people are PMing people on the sly to sell their products maybe thats why my post for a sale this month isn't working for me. My brother-in-law advertises on here also www.crookedcreekantlerart.com.We also have donated our products for the year end photo contest, and we do this for a website we believe in.I'm not the car salesman type, you won't see me constantly on here pushing my line of work, but I do appreciate FL'S purchase of one of my calls and a portion of that sale goes to BOB to keep this great site hear for everyone to enjoy.Bob isn't made of money and can't afford to do this on his own, so please use your vendors here on occasion to help this site to continue to grow and be a great tool for any age.

I think his website sucked! He sent me a Pm about it and it was a bore. Bob talked to me about sponsoring something after a post I put up about a hunt at our club, he was in the right then and I think he is in the right doing what he has to to keep this place legit.

PS, I see the photo things the same as Gretchen where it is another section of this forum that is used. Plus with every post we all want pictures, so the way I see it the monthly photo theme and photo section are there to learn us to take better pictures so we can get better pics of game, fish and fur.

The way I figure it, if someone wants more posts about something other that what's being posted, then they oughta make those posts. Someone's sure to reply and get a conversation going.

Of course my opinion and $2.50 will almost get you a cup o' joe at Denny's.

You are so right Bam. The red ones are the native ones and they only bite stuff like aphids, not people or mammals. I've been told that the yellowish ones are Korean ladybugs, and they do bite or pinch. At least they don't suck blood like skeeters though.

Q. Are there different kinds of ladybugs?
A. Yes. There are hundreds of different kinds all over the world. There are about 500 different kinds in the United States and nearly 5000 world wide. They come in all different colors, too. Reds, yellows, orange, gray, black, brown and even pink.

The above information was copied from Ladybug Questions & Answers (http://www.ladybuglady.com/LadybugsFAQ.htm)
