Hello, my name is Scott and I'm in the process of moving to Carbondale or Murphysboro (depending on what house My wife picks out!) I'm just tagging along, riding my wifes coat tails. She got transfered to Carbondale, and I'm in the process of selling my house here in Columbus Nebraska and looking for a job there. I'm 45, obviously married, with three kids at home, two grown (or at least out of the house :D ) It's all about the fishing, hunting. or anything outdoors to me. Have big truck and decent boat, nothing fancy, but functional in the way that I like it. I travel outstate a couple times a year to hunt and fish (this september I have one of those much coveted early season muzzleloader permits for trophy mule deer in Colorado :D )
My favorite fish, right now (subject to change as the fancy suits me!) is catfish and I love to hunt waterfowl. I hope to connect with others that like this kind of fun. I'm equally fine with iced tea or cold beer, but perfer cold beer.
Looking forward to reading all about what this area has to offer here, and getting to know everyone!

"nothing fancy; but functional" is practically my motto. LOL

Welcome to the area. You're moving into a great area for catfishing as well as lots of other kinds of fish. As for deer, if you drive in southern Illinois you're a potential deer hunter. My wife's got a hoof print in the hood of her car, kind of a badge of honor for her.

Thanks guys, I am really excited about coming down ! Sounds like my wife just decided on a house in Carbondale...so, I do believe I now have a destination. Might be as long as 6 or 7 weeks before I get down there, so watch out for a big ugly F350 towing a lund, both with Nebraska plates, coming into town!

youl find that waterfowl hunting might not be the same as where you came from but it will do for a hardcore duck hunter
