OK looks like the 28th at Kincaid.
I would suspect everyone will want an early start to beat the heat? How does 6-11 sound?

Add further questions and stuff here.

Probably same as last time. $10 entry, and $5 big bass.

I'd be up for it if it were the 29th but the 28th I have to go in early at 11 am.

In fact I could probably get Jdawg to go with me (actually it'd be me on his boat) if it were the 29th.

DUDE, we aren't pros. We fished 7-12 last outing, and that was plenty. 6-11 and we'll be ready to get off the water in heat like this.:p So you CAN go out.

Heck I'd even be up for an earlier start. Born a Northerner, I hate the heat. Rather it be 15 degrees and in a tree or blind.

The ramp at Johnathan Creek might keep ya out of the recreational boaters hustle and bustle and put ya right in the prime fishing no wake area. Just a suggestion. I ususally use Paul Ice at the east end to avoid the marina traffic but may use the JC one for fishing the no wake.

BOOYAH
07-09-2007, 20:24
Isn't it no wake for like MILES at johnson creek? That would kinda suck in a way too. Kinda hard to hit different places at trollin speed.

DetectDave
07-09-2007, 20:37
3 miles of no wake but mucho fishing opportunities in there.

Smokey Mc Pot
07-09-2007, 21:32
you have to fish on the main lake if you want the fish

paul ice is the way to go its not to far from anything anyway

Just looked up the sunrise data for July 28th...Sunrise @ 5:57 am...civil twilight @ 5:28 am. Could we start around 5:30? Say 5:30ish-11:00? Doesn't really matter to me...just throwing that out there...

07-17-2007, 21:09
C'mon bob don't ya have a double sleepin bag for ya both? might get cold out there at nite ya know lol.

I would vote for the marina ramp or paul ice ramp. they are both nice and close to the main lake. Take a look at the campgrounds an routes to the ramps an you decide, i think i can find either one in the dark lol.

Smokey Mc Pot
07-17-2007, 21:18

We will probably camp over at Johnson creek...depending on the heat...Critter wants to camp at one of the hike ins...there a couple with little canoe sized "docks" (well some posts and two boards LOL) Smoky try to talk your dad into it! Tell him Critter's going! Since I have managed to only catch 2 bass in the last three months...do we get a consolation prize for catfish? LOL

Smokey Mc Pot
07-18-2007, 10:33
i am going to try to get him to go but im going to have to pay for gas for him buts its ok and i think he might have to work on the saterday so i dont know

Hah! trollin motor is all we have....I'm tellin ya..bass fishermen we ain't - ya'll just be gentle and do not smirk and laugh at us too hard until we are out of sight LOL I do not stand a chance..I am merely coming for the good folks and fun! Oh yeah and to take scads of pictures LOL

gretchensteele
07-19-2007, 07:44
So have we picked a ramp? I'm an obsessive planner...I realize the no wake business at Johnson creek bothers some..but there sure seems to be some good fishing in that area...well catfish anyway LOL We easy and agreeable though! We may not camp if it stays so miserable hot...the heat wrecks my MS...I turn into a blob of goo that can't function...

Nothing wrong with that Gretchen. A trolling motor can get a small boat going pretty good.

We're not much good at bass fishing either unless you're counting whites, but we have a great time with our fishing. Unfortunately we won't be able to make this competition. Our boat's up in Carlyle waiting for some sheet metal (pontoon boat) from the manufacturer so they can fix it. We could probably use it that weekend, but Carlyle's a might out of the way for heading down to Kincaid, plus I know the trolling motor's battery isn't charged up. Yeah, my wife ordered a pontoon boat with a trolling motor on the front as well as an outboard on the back. She's into this fishing thing too.

we just have one of those little wash tub plastic two man boats, so a trollin motor is it...but it really works well for us, specially since I like to use it along the banks shooting the wildlife...it does a remarkable job in very very shallow water....even if does look like we put cafeteria chairs in wash tub LOL

Smokey Mc Pot
07-19-2007, 10:11
i fish out of one of them up here in NA out at the strip pits its pretty nice its caught alot of big fish out of it and we found hella lures out of it so i just repaint them either dont fish with them and put them on a wall or i paint them and use it till i have to paint it again good little boat it gets where the others cant and a trolling motor on that thing gets it going pretty fast i want to get it camoed so i can hunt out of it  :D

I've thought about getting one of those because there are just some places you can't get with a pontoon. I think I'll go for a small pontoon with a trolling motor instead.

lifestudent...when we bought this one, they lady was telling us about a little pontoon ..a gill getter I think she called it...evidently a baby sized pontton but sure a step up from the clothes basket...

That's cute.....hey you seen ours it aian't that bigger....Those are nice for the little lakes....that is why my hub likes his.....My hubs fishing partner bought a brand new skeeter that cost more than some houses.....It is really nice but I wouldn't want that kind of payment.....we are more into remodeling our house now......

lifestudent55
07-19-2007, 17:57
Yeah. That'd be real handy. I notice you even have a small cooler tucked under the front seat. Is that for y'all when you're fishing of for your bait?;)

Cope Marine had a small pontoon boat that runs on 4 batteries using 2 24V trolling motors. Top speeds about 6 mph. Something like that wouldn't be too bad either, but it won't fit in the back of your pickup.

07-20-2007, 12:08
I have yet to see a single boat catch a fish unless it flies out at you on the river . My point is the fisherman makes the catch not the boat. No making fun of anyones boats here.

lifestudent55
07-20-2007, 12:17
That's one thing you'd never find me doing. I have a lot of respect for the smaller boats and wish we had one too. There are too many places they can go that a larger one like we have can't. Too bad I couldn't convince my wife of that till she saw it first hand.

At the same time, I wouldn't take a small boat out on Rend or Carlyle because it doesn't take much of a breeze at all to be fighting some pretty big waves.

Smokey Mc Pot
