Has anyone been out to the winter trout fishing in MO? I hear that they stock some pretty nice sized trout in the lakes around St. Louis. One of the forest park lakes gets stocked and then some of the Bush lakes too. I might have to give it a try pretty soon. The bad weather will keep a lot of people away. I like the fact that some lakes are catch and release only until spring. Although, I also like trout in the smoker too. :)

I've never the the St. Louis metro thing for trout, but I have had some great trips to the Current during the winter months. Even spent a couple New Years out there. You may have to bust the ice outta your guides, but the fish are there, and the people ain't. Anybody wants to do that I'm game... I camp in the winter in my 13 footer.

Oh yeah, I'm soooo spoiled you should see the thing when all the slide outs are extended, and the self levelers come down... thing is like a Transformer.:D :D :D

NOT!!! It doesn't even have heat. Cook some wings, or a hungry man dinner in the oven though, and it warms up nicely.:p

I am all for a winter fishing trip. I have always wanted to go down to Taneycomo in the winter too. I have never been there but the fishing is supposed to be great in the winter and not as many people. I have had a few trips where I had to break the ice out of my guides in the early spring. I have caught and seen some nice browns on the Current.

For any of you that may consider the Current in Winter, but not camping Reed's Cabins are a nice place to stay, and pretty reasonable price wise. They are just up the hill from the park.

Now how can I fanagle a day or 2 in Jan??? I need a kitchen pass.

I have the 5th off due to working NYD, that leaves me with a long weekend. I think I may have to see if that is feasible with the wife. I got the itch to fish for some trout.:D Anyone else wanna go to the Current?
