OK guys come on, give me some ideas on a good July topic...

You could use one of the 3 catagorgies from the other photo contest.
Use a different one for the next 3 months.

July - Wildlife
Aug - Scenic
Sept - Trail Cam

Trail Cam would knock out any of us (like me) who don't own trail cams. I like the other ones you suggested flatlander.

:D Lakes, Sunsets, Clouds, Flying Insects, Trees, Fireworks, Birds...needs to be something everyone can take pics of and that goes with the season.....:D

I like the idea of being more specific like June's "Flowers". Here's a few ideas...

1. Barns
2. Sunsets
3. Butterflies/Dragonflies
4. Summer landscapes..
5. Water...Boating...Fish

How about a broad subject like Summertime Fun. It could be water skiing, hiking, fishing, swimming, shooting, berry picking, etc. This is a tough time of year for some outdoors folks...

I'd like to do stuff like birds when we have a lot of birds moving through. I really enjoyed the identification of the flowers, I thought that was a great learning tool.

Just got in from pickin some blackberries......That's sounds like a great idea bob...I was trying to be broad with my ideas as well to make sure everyone can join in..

1. Barns... they're all growed up right now. Better winter or spring idea I think.
2. Who the hell gets up that early or stays up that late this time of year?
3. We need to figure out when theses bugs are most prominent. I wanna do this one.
4 and 5 fit into the SUMMERTIME FUN theme... I called it, and that's it... Get out your cameras...

Hey I watched a beautiful sunset last night......the colors where so nice but didnt' have the cam...for once in my life....lol.. If you lived at the lake you would watch alot of sunsets .....trust! I never watched them before we moved here..
Barns in the winter eps. snow are beautiful.....
I have seen alot of dragonflies lately but it could be because we have a pool....they seem to love it......along with the horseflies! lol.

Anyway I like the summertime fun theme.....Can the photos only be takin in this month or the whole summer?

I'm thinking in November we need a hunting dog photo contest, maybe by then I'll buy a digital camera or get Jdawg to get of his butt and go hunting with me more than once every 3 years.

Yup, current pics only please. Like a said earlier, this is to get folks out with their cameras. Old pics don't do that. (No enforcement other than honesty. I like to think that's kosher here.)

You get me a good Cougar pic; from IL, and you're a winner, that goes for anyone. Good luck with that.;)

I think a theme like "take a kid fishing" or "kids in the outdoors" might equal the playing field, not so much who has the best equipment or the best macro skills but more who can capture the essence of kids fishing or enjoying the outdoors... just a thought, thinking back now I think a good closeup of a youngster smelling or looking at a flower might have blown away the competition if captured right.
remember the name of the site "Southern Illinois Outdoors" any theme we pick should always fit that description too.

All the things you mentioned will fit in July's theme. Deal is not everyone has kids. (You could be a called a stalker taking pics of a strangers kids , sorry but true.) All efforts are in the pot for July, and Gretchen gets the ball. I trust she'll pick a great winner, as long as we snap away...:rolleyes:. I'm not totally on the "Southern Part" here, We actually have quite a few visitors from "up North". I want EVERYONE to feel included for this contest. Let's be fair, they don't have it as good as we do, even if there is a mint being made...:D Out of state is welcome too as far as I'm concerned.
