Hey, anybody ever go to the IllinoisCougarWatch website? I used to get regular updates emailed to me, etc. Then they were going to update/new site and now when I try to access it I get a Forbidden 403 error. It was a good site, seems dead now though.

archer, I noticed that last week also. don't know what's going on but enjoyed checking on the updates. Hmmm, maybe the DNR shut them down
Maybe there wasn't enough activity to talk about?
When the public is educated enough they start realizing that bobcats, housecats and coyotes are not cougars.
Over a 1 1/2 years ago the request for clear evidence was posted for all on SILO - no one has been able to produce the evidence of cougars in illinois.

BUT.... we are still waiting. Someone out there will see one and get a picture!;)
No one gives up - with a trail camera you never know what one is going to see. I am still waiting to see an armadillo as they are moving north.
Southern Illinois is not easy to get to. It is separated from Missouri, Kentucky, and Indiana by rivers - Rivers are difficult to cross.
To get from Wisconsin to Illinois is pretty easy.

There was a second one spotted in the chi suburbs again about 3 weeks ago.Came right into the ladies yard.
They say it's young males out of wisconson. claim they'll travel up to 400 miles during breeding season. They did'nt get to shoot this one this time. That's a good thing.

Why would they do that and do they have the authority?
Seems like that would be over-reaching there autority.....

I doubt that's what happened. The people running it may have decided to not renew their domain or just took the site down. I doubt the dnr would be interested in shutting a site like that down. They've been much too busy with real work over the past year, especially with dnr money being reallocated by our former governor for other projects.
