After three complete seasons, South Zone turkey harvest stands at 3,640, compared to 3,645 in 2008 and 3,604 in 2007. Third season harvest dropped (as compared to previous years), primarily because of sustained rain throughout most of the day last Sunday). Top five counties are Randolph (228), Jefferson (198), Pope (194), Union (177), and Jackson and Pope (tied, 172).
After two complete seasons, North Zone hunters have taken 4,135, compared to 4,622 in 2008 and 4,081 in 2007. Second season harvest of 1,887 (2,112 in 2008 and 1,793 in 2007) was depressed because of low harvest on Sunday during the rain. Sunday’s harvest of 390 was 212 birds off last year’s pace of 602. Top five counties are JoDaviess (323), Pike (257), Fulton (193), Adams (191), and Schuyler (159).
