I hate messing with the little ones..LOL But if you did clean him.. little guys like that are super in chunks , breaded and fried..:) lofjas 04-11-2009, 20:14 Didn't keep him, gave him away. josh 04-17-2009, 15:55 I agree, Breaded and fried is the way to go...Do you boil the meat first to get that gunk off it? Its like a foamy blob lol. And always be sure to let them clean out. Put em in a barrel of water for a week or 2 old34 04-17-2009, 20:21 I agree, Breaded and fried is the way to go...Do you boil the meat first to get that gunk off it? Its like a foamy blob lol. And always be sure to let them clean out. Put em in a barrel of water for a week or 2 We don't boil them, but we do let them "rinse" out in a barrel for about a week. As a kid, Dad never let them sit for a week. To tell the truth, I don't know that I can tell the difference. TURTLES Turtles may not be taken by commercial fishing devices, including hoop nets, traps or seines, or by using firearms, air guns or gas guns. Turtles may be taken only by hand, landing net or by hook and line. Locating turtles by rodding, and then taking by hand is permissible. The daily catch limit is 8 turtles (of each species) per day with a possession limit of 16 of each turtle species. From the 2009 Fishing Digest. heavy5256 04-22-2009, 07:12 The best recipe I know, is to let my aunt cook it. Man can she cook turtle. She flours it, then seasons it, fries it real slow until it is real crisp. Then drains the grease off of it. takes chicken broth, puts just enough in the skillet to steam it with the lid on it. Do this on a real low fire for a long time. keep checking with a fork for tenderness. You may have to add more broth as you cook. This could take up to and hour and a half to get tender. I grew up eating turtle! BAM 04-23-2009, 11:38 A few more....Reminds me of that Price is right game.....lol :D http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd125/bambam203silo/IMG_5696.jpg |
