There is major flooding going on right now in the Dakotas and all this on top of a already heavy snow pack and more snow is expected. It all has to come past us once it melts...:eek:

Isn't alot of that attributed more to the ice jams and blocking of the flow of water more than a mass influx of water?

Bird - some of the flooding was attributable to the ice dams.. but now there's more going on that's from a combination of rain/snow melt/ spring:rolleyes: ..

I almost think that's part of what kept them going so late in the year last year... :confused:

About a week ago we were above flood stage up here. Not all of the levees are repaired yet. We had to move stuff out of our duckblind again. We are still pretty high. The Il river is in the same predicament. If you guys aren't very high yet, you soon will be. I hope it works out better for both of us this year.

if it would just go up a couple feet that would be awesome so i can get in to my honeyholes on the river...Bowfishing/catfishing :D

You are thinking of a different Red river. The red river in the Dakota's actually flows north into Manatobia. One of the few river in North America that flows that direction. I just got back from a snow goose hunt in Northern S. Dakota when we left yesterday afternoon there was no snow on the ground and it was 40 degrees. But that was suppose to change. One a postive note the pothole and wetland in the pothole region are really looking great again after 4 to 5 years of drying out. We should have a very good hatch of duck this year.

The good news is it might wash some limbs out of my way for deer season. The woods in the bottoms is very difficult to walk through

It might wash a few out and leave a few trees in their place.
