I used to bowhunt the Cache River public lands in the mid 90's til around 2001I haven't hunted IL for at least 5 years, but my friends say the public areas I used to hunt have a lot more hunters than in the past. I would like to come look at some new areas a little bit further north sometime this summer. I have looked at all the public area info on the IL DNR website, and was looking for input and opinions on the ones I was interested in.

I would appreciate any comments on Kaskaskia, Campbell Pond, Turkey Bluffs, Pyramid SP, or any other public areas you are familiar with. I would opt for areas with fewer deer that have lower hunter pressure than heavily hunted areas. Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Well heres what I can tell ya about the areas you ask about.Campbell Pond is hunted pretty hard by a few guys. There are some great deer around there, but I have never really hunted there.I have scouted there several times only to find deer stands where I would have set up.

PSP holds some good deer from what I have heard.I havent hunted there since they got all of the "new" ground. The "old" part is hard to hunt.

Cant help ya with the others.

The Kaskaskia is 20,000 acres of river bottom. You have a boat and some time to figure it out, and you'll see good bucks.

PM me if you're looking for a bit more info.
