I did some trout fishing last weekend and I am finally getting around to posting up some pics. Westover is a neat little private place just south of Cuba, MO close to Meremac Springs. It is a fun place and there were only two other people fishing it last weekend. We caught a bunch of fish. I wish I would have taken more pics, but I always seemed to be too busy fishing. The biggest one I brought to net was about 21" and I had another really big one break off just as I was bringing it to the net. The weather was great except for the wind and about 20 minutes of rain and hail on Sunday morning. The storm really seemed to turn the fish on though.
Now if someone can tell me what I am doing wrong with the pictures I can show them.

The fishing was $50 a day. I don't know if they do catch and keep yet. They are going to make one of the runs into a kids fishing area. The kids will be pretty much guarenteed to catch fish. They do have one cabin that is finished that you can rent for the weekend. I don't remember how much it is. We stayed in Cuba which is only about 20 minutes away.

I know a little bit about Westover. The orgianl name was Troutdale Dude Ranch where the fishing was Catch and Keep, Pay per pound. After Troutdale went under the Schlueter family purchased the propery back in (I think) 2005. The "big" picture plan for the property was to create a corporate retreat location for big businesses. They started purchaing old log homes from around the country and rebuiling on their property. When I was down there in OCt 2007 they had most of the homes started but they had a problem... they were starting to run out of money. In June 2008 (according to the STL Business journal) the bank took over the farm but allowed the Schlueter family to keep running it. It went up for auction in Nov 2008 but the bids did not exceed the $5 million asking price from the bank. So I think the bank still ownes it. They now have one cabin, the corportate conference room, Fly shop complete but I think the rest of the building are still under contruction. It is a neet place to fish but you still ahve to pony up $50 to fish per day. Also, don't think about stepping off the property because the land owners next door are not very friendly.
