Anybody been doing any bowfishing near New Athens on the Kaskaskia river ? I'm looking for some bigheads, silver carp or anything else since I got booted out from the Carlyle dam area by an Army corps officer.

Plenty of fish, gar, carp, slivers, BHs... The back sloughs are good now.

I think your problem at Carlyle has happened before, I know Carpsniper or Christine has more info...

well two or three weeks ago if you go to the krpd docks and the no wake go past that and the next slough on your right going toward balldwin go in there and there was so many fish about 10 to 15 fett off the bank i mean every 20 feet if you made a sudden move or hit something you would scare up about 30 of them

Thanks for the info. I'm familiar with that slough as I do alot of turkey hunting on the Kasksakia however I've never really bowfished in that area. During turkey season I had 3 silver carp jump in the boat at Richland creek.

when i was little me and grampsuse to go out and clear his trot lines and there was a slough we went into and it wasnt very deep and or very big but those things were everywhere you have fun if you know they are coming but they scare the hell out of you if you dont know anything at all but i cant remember where we were

As far as the spillway at Carlyle, yeah, we've got to get that taken care of soon.

I'm going to have to get with you guys on this bowfishing shttt. I've been bass fishing hard in Southern Il tournaments. I have a new bow setup and all and have yet to bag a fish. I'd like to go with you guys sometimes or go with me..

I'd like to photograph you guys bowfishing....wow I bet that would make for some very cool shots!!
