A six point buck got Critter last night on his way home...about halfway across Holloway road....between Rt 4 and Eden Road....
He didn't try to find him...he'd worked 16 hours and really was wore out...he's gone early this am to see if he can find him....
The Dodge faired better than some...just right front corner, and drivers door...
Critter said he was watching a doe at the edge of the road trying to see which direction she was going...and Kaboom the buck flew off the bank and slammed into him. Thank God he wasn't on the motorcycle, or I'd be looking for a black dress.

Glad he is ok, good thing they are extending hunting hours this year and the actual hunting season length will be extended for bow hunters to try to get rid of the over population of deer in Illinois.

As long as no one got hurt. Cars are replaceable...

he travels through there enough (twice a day) that he's usually moving pretty slow and on deer alert...I think if he hadn't been so tired he probably would have avoided it.....It's been ten years since he got one..so I'd say he was long over due considering te stretches of road he drives everyday. Sadly - it's an old truck with only liability ins...so I reckon we'll go scrounging in junkyards....

My wife's got a hoof dent on the hood of her Buick. A couple years ago she pulled right up to a deer standing in the road then honked her horn at it. I told her she shoulda just stepped out and walked up to it. ;) She doesn't pull right up to them anymore. You wouldn't believe how many deer there are in Fairview Heights. Too bad they won't allow us to hunt 'em in town.

My wife hit a 6pt monday night comming home thru the river bottoms north of where we live in newton.Broke the headlight, dented the bumper & quarter panel, then rolled up the side of the car.She was driving a dodge stratus, nobody hurt.Also my buddy has shot some nice 130-160 class bucks in fairview with his bow.

They are thick as thieves right now..4 little does yesterday evening bout got me as they were doing their rockette dance across Schuline Road. Traffic in and around Fairview makes me a crazy person..can you imagine how it seems to deer ???

We saw two tonight as we coming home from Carlyle. One was next to the parking lot by the west dam access. The other was on the north side of Fairview. Fortunately neither one had the inclination to jump in front of us. I would've gotten a pic of the first one if my camera batteries hadn't been dead. It just stood there while we stopped to look at it.

You all should see how I drive coming in to work at 0130... Middle of the road the whole way... I need to be able to swerve in either direction.
